Jacob Bruce Fett, who was 43 years old, lived in Hillsboro, Iowa. Sadly, he passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, October 1, 2022. He was born on March 1, 1979, in Keosauqua, Iowa, and his mom and dad were Jimmy Ray and Janet (Haynes) Fett.
Academic Journey and Career
Jacob graduated from Harmony High School in 1997 and went on to build a fulfilling career. For two decades, he worked as a Leadsman at Dexter Laundry, where he not only found joy in his work but also in sharing light-hearted pranks with his friends. In February of 2002, he married Jacque Rae McDowell, embarking on a loving journey together.
Fond Memories from Youth
During his youth, Jacob had a passion for baseball and collecting baseball cards. Classmates remember him for his shy nature, sharp intellect, exceptional math and science skills, and enthusiasm for hacky sack and ping pong tournaments in his basement. He even had the honor of being crowned homecoming king during his school days.

Hobbies and Interests
As an adult, Jacob had a diverse range of hobbies and interests. Jac was an avid collector of Blu-ray movies, vinyl records, and CDs. He enjoyed shooting pool, listening to music, and cherished spending quality time with his friends. He was known for his knack for finding bargains and scoring great deals.
A Love for the Outdoors
Jacob had a deep connection with the outdoors. He often found solace in falling asleep by a bonfire under the starlit sky. He had a fascination with the night sky, and he shared this passion with his children by gifting them a telescope for Christmas. Riding his motorcycle and taking his daughter on rides brought him immense joy.
He cherished moments spent shooting guns with his son and mastering the art of throwing boomerangs. In his later years, he could often be found tinkering under the car’s hood, showcasing his mechanical prowess.

Jacob’s family and loved ones who continue to remember and cherish him include:
- His mother, Janet Fett, who lives in Bonaparte, Iowa.
- His brother, Jeremy Fett, also resides in Bonaparte, Iowa.
- His sister, Jenna Lee (Jesse) Short, lives in Bonaparte, Iowa, along with her children, nieces Jaegan and Jaylee Short.
- His adored children, daughter Jacey Fett and son Jackson Fett, both living in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
- Jacob’s extended family, including uncles, aunts, and cousins.
- He also had many friends who held a special place in his heart.
A Farewell to Remember
Jacob’s father, Jim, brother Benji Fett, sister-in-law Oralia Fett, grandparents Carole Jean and John Haynes, and cousins Zachary and Jonathan Batten preceded him in death.
Services and Memorials
Schmitz Funeral Home has entrusted Jacob’s body to its crematory for cremation. Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects at Schmitz Funeral Home in Farmington on Friday, October 7, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. A heartfelt memorial service will follow at 6:30 p.m., officiated by Pastor Chad Welch. Please dress casually in remembrance of Jacob.
